Pune blast and internal security issues
Pune blast has highlighted the internal security issues facing our nation. Miniaturization and increased lethality of weapon systems have created great dangers to any civilised society. Earlier a sword killed one person at a time. Invention of gun powder increased lethality of weapon systems manifold. Now ballistic weapon systems, nuclear technology, improved communication systems have created a world of great uncertainties. To move ahead safely we need to take measures to identify potential threats and take preventive action in advance. Police forces, internal security apparatus, co-ordination at higher governmental levels will play a great role in handling such threats. However what is most important is the role of common man.
We need to take active interest in security around us. We need to be vigilant every moment and be on the look out for unidentified objects and suspicious strangers. We need to assert our role as active civilians to safeguard our own interests. Most important, we need to vote well and elect good leaders who would provide us with good governance. Today politicians treat politics as a business. It is the fastest way to enrich oneself and one's family members. We need to change this. I think compulsory voting and voting for a party rather than an individual will change this approach. We need to be less emotional and more pragmatic in life.
I am an optimist. I think India is progressing well despite its limitations. We shall emerge stronger and safer.
Will write on the stock markets tomorrow for sure.
