We, the people......
These days I am finding parliament proceedings to be quite interesting. If one has time then it is recommended that we watch these live telecasts by Loksabha TV. I was listening in to the PM's reply to Sharm al Sheikh controversy. Mr Jaswant Sinha, LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj and many others from the opposition were listening in patiently and bringing out valid points. I got a feeling that their aim was not to score brownie political points but act as a responsible opposition to rein in the governing party. Mr Pranab Mukherjee's intervention was a lesson in our foreign policy. Mr SM Krishna however failed to impress me.
As a good Indian citizen I am happy to note that now parliamentary debates are for macro issues such as India's role in world affairs, internal security, right to education rather than regional flash points. This sends a strong signal to foreign investors and governments ( who are watching these debates) that we are behaving in a responsible manner and emerging as a world player sooner than later.
